Did you seriously just condemn Tom Hanks, one of the world’s most beloved and unproblematic sweethearts, to face the apocalyptic fires of what is to come? He does not deserve that! Happily, he’s a wise and wealthy man and I have no doubt he is doing what he can to ensure his own survival. In fact, it’s been reported that many celebrities have invested in state-of-the-art bunkers within which they will weather the storm. (Recent reports speculate that Pete Davison and Colin Jost of SNL fame have had the decommissioned Staten Island ferry they purchased together trucked inland where it’s being framed up and buried below ground so they can hunker down with Scarlet Johansson and Pete’s mom when the time comes.)
If it makes you feel any better, Tom Hanks failed this test after the first question. While he was on board with the idea of Meatless Mondays, joining Paul McCartney’s movement of the same name in 2019, he was not willing to fully embrace a vegetarian lifestyle.
So congratulations! You are more worthy than Tom Hanks!
By choosing yourself, you are showing a tenacity and will to live, not being blinded by celebrity or your heart. Your pragmatism will serve you well in the new future. Sacrifice will be required, as you’ve already learned, but believing in yourself and your own worthiness is a powerful quality that will take you far.
